A little vacation

On May 5th we traveled down to Vegas to be there for when my sister, Mindy had her baby. McKenzie was born on May 6th at 6 lbs. 15 oz. and 18 1/2 inches long. She had tons of black hair and was a cutie! It's crazy because I think once you become a mom, you get choked up at the sight of a new mom and baby! Mindy had a much better delivery and recovery with this baby and seems to be doing great! She looks fabulous too! She now actually weighs 20 pounds less than she did when she got pregnant! Who does that!?! If we could all be that lucky!

It was great to be there to hold the new baby and be with my family. We stayed there until Mothers Day to be with my mom and to talk to my brothers. We only get to talk to them twice a year since they are serving missions so we wanted to be there for that! They are doing fabulous and it was great to hear all the stories about those they are teaching. I really miss them when I go home to visit, but I know they are doing the right thing over there. Austin loved playing with Lexi and they had so much fun together.

Lexi with Papa

The next day we drove down to California to stay with Jaron's parents for a week. We had such a good time. We went to the beach twice and took Lexi to a pool. It was the first time she got to wear her swimsuit and play in the sand and water. She loved the beach and especially loved playing in the sand with a pail and shovel. She actually threw a tantrum when we tried to leave. She wasn't as crazy about the pool however, probably because there wasn't any sand and the water was a little cold. She looked adorable in her little swimsuit though.

We celebrated Dianne, Jaron's mom's birthday and enjoyed a fabulous ice cream cake from Coldstone. Over the course of the week we also went to dinner with one of Jaron's best friends from high school and his family, got frozen bananas, and visited with the rest of the family. We really had a great time but it is nice to be back in our own home and not living out of suitcases.
Now we are just getting back into our normal routines and watching Lexi wander all over the house. She loves talking on her little play cell phone and paces back and forth down the hall while babbling into the phone repeatedly. Alexis has now discovered how to open cupboards, drawers, and my jewlery box but is pretty good about closing them when mommy says to. She is definitely full of energy but we love watching her grow and learn new things everyday!
